I was born in Toronto and raised by some wonderful Grandparents in a small village located in Guysborough County, in beautiful Nova Scotia.

I developed a love for shiny stones and beach glass at a very early age. Since my Grandfather was a lighthouse keeper, I spent many a day combing the beach for treasures like beach glass, pretty stones, and delicate shells. I have always been interested in things like knitting, sewing, crocheting, and quilting – all taught to me by my Grandmother.

Once a knitting or crocheting project was finished it would usually be taken apart and everything reused to start another project. I remember my Grandmother would sheer our sheep and we would wash the wool and spread it out on the lawn to dry before it was sent to Condons, Prince Edward Island to be made into a skein of yarn. If we were lucky there might be enough for a wool blanket. Later in life I started painting, mostly lighthouses, some seascapes, old ships, as well as local churches, homes, and cottages.

A couple of years ago while selling my art work at the local Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso, Nova Scotia, I had a moment of inspiration when my daughter had done very well selling some wire wrapped pieces of Nova Scotia Beach Glass. She did very well actually and completely sold out. When she decided that she wanted to move on to other things I saw the opportunities in the market and ran with it.

My passion is with the local Nova Scotia Sea Glass, but because I’m like a crow and attracted to shiny things I just can’t resist working with silver and gold as well. The glimmer of gold and silver, as well as semi-precious stones and crystals just beg to be wrapped and sculpted. It is very satisfying to work in 14ct Rolled Gold, .925 Stirling Silver, and Copper Wire. So here I am at Land and Sea Jewelry!

Please browse through my online shop and feel free to email me to order or if you have any questions. Definitely check out the Mittens & Slippers page as I am very proud of how much recycled and salvaged material I am able to use in making these products thanks to the inspiration of my Grandmother. This works out quite well as after a day of working with jewelry I enjoy knitting in front of the television.
